About Me

I am Liz Lawler, a product designer that is passionate about developing creative solutions driven by user-centered design, and facilitating conversations about design’s positive social impact. I most recently worked at the non-profit, Benefits Data Trust in Philadelphia, designing interface systems, products, and services that address the benefits access gap. I studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, graduating with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design, and minors in Packaging Design and Art History. Certified in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and proficient in UX/UI softwares like Sketch and Figma, I have experience working with an agile team to design and iterate on products and projects for mobile and web platforms, assisted with user research, created wireframes and journeys to guide the development of products. Notably, I designed the interface for a tool used by caseworkers that allows them to quickly screen clients for multiple benefits, the mobile friendly website for a FAFSA assistance AI and SMS chatbot, and improvements to call center softwares.

The projects that give me the most joy are those which allow me to design for better access and more innovative and equitable systems for the people using the tools.

User centered design and UX research is key in educating and informing design decisions. I listen first and think with the user perspective in mind in order to ensure user experiences are accessible, safe, and intuitive. I have found that it’s imperative to comprehend the user’s goals and define their needs before defining solutions, which has further strengthened my ability to make smart and impactful design decisions.

In my spare time I enjoy walks with my Cavapoo Graham, and tackling DIY house projects with my wife. I also indulge my creativity through experiencing and making art, my curiosity through traveling, and my competitiveness through (sometimes) friendly games of Scrabble.
